András Siflis' painting captures the problem of space and time with sophisticated yet powerful visual tools. His works do not tell, but they work: the interrelationship, counterpointing of the picture planes, sometimes dipping into each other creates the inner tension that keeps the dramaticness of the compositions alive. In his painting, the fragment, the episode and the moment become decisive; the torn structures emerge explosively, while even framers cannot control the power of the gesture.
In the stratifiedness of the works, tiny moments are concentrated that can be interpreted as the fragments of collective memory and subconsciousness. Their acceptance is not a rational process, but a sensual process: the viewer does not decipher, but experiences the inner states transmitted by images. The melancholia flowing from the surfaces carries a sense of expectation, an uncertain sense of future, which is both personal and universal.
András Siflis is often described as a postmodern expressionist. His painting is influenced by playful gestures, expressive linearity and intense, yet natural colorism. Behind his creations is the impression of personal experiences, but they go beyond the individual fate: the sense of living events becomes a symbol of today's global experience.
Siflis grasps the problem of space and time with sophisticated but effective virtual tools, and, in a sense, is close to the real linguistic solution of Marcel Duchamp's main work entitled Big Glass. The situational energy needed to unfold and operate the drama of the works is eroded by the cross-compliance and counterpointing of the picture planes. The images are embedded in the particles, the tiny moments that can be regarded as fragments of memory conceived in the past, the tiny elements of the collective subconscious, whose recognition and interpretation are more sensual than brain action. On February 26th, 2026 we will present your art through the monograph published by the Fórum Publisher on the occasion of András Siflis' 70th birthday, as well as the exhibition organized for this occasion. The evening is attended by painter András Siflis, director László Lantos, Péter Antalovics, director of the Forum Book Publisher, as well as by Bernadett Remete Szegi, cultural associate of the South Country House.
The atmosphere of the evening is enriched by Greek music, the program is closed by traditional toast and informal conversation.
The exhibition can be visited free of charge between 9 and 17 o'clock, for one month.
